A recent donation of $25,000 from Sylvamo/Hammermill will help the North American Forest Foundation to potentially reach and teach 50,000 elementary age students in classrooms across the country.
The current gift builds on several past years’ contributions; previous gifts include the design and development of a 7-part poster series for use in the classroom, as well as printing support for our Truth About Trees kits.
Collaboration builds momentum to spread the word. Together we’re striving to help young students learn about wood in their world, healthy forests, and possible future careers in forestry or the forest products industry.
Sylvamo/Hammermill’ s new gift will fund production of additional Truth About Trees kits to help meet current demand. Each kit provides teachers with science-based classroom materials to help kids learn about sustainably managed forests. They’ll learn why it’s important for forests to keep working—that the cycle of careful harvesting and regrowing actually protects the forested land.
After all, tomorrow’s stewards of our forests are sitting in these classrooms today. Our future—the future health of our forests and planet—is in their hands.
Hammermill sources from sustainably managed forests that are protected from development. All their lines are made with renewable resources from sustainably managed forests and/or recycled pulp.
