Why this matters, now more that ever!
- Trees are out world’s most renewable and plentiful resource(Yet Hardwood consumption is down 52% in the last 25 years due to wood alternatives)
- Every year since the 1940s, total forest growth across North America has exceeded the amount harvested.(But people still believe cutting trees is bad and that we’re running out)
- Using wood in construction and other applications, like furniture, helps mitigate climate change by storing carbon that would otherwise be released back into the atmosphere.
- North American forests are among the best managed in the world.(Decimation of the rain forests isn’t what’s happening in North America)
- One kilogram of wood sourced from standing timber requires 1/17 as much energy as plastic and 1/7 as much energy as steel from iron(Yet those industries use their voice to claim otherwise)
